In Honor of Those We Have Lost
Pet ownership is a rewarding experience filled with love, laughter, and joy of companionship.
However, there is all too often sorrow as well when our beloved furry and feathered friends pass away.
I have lost many pets over the years and it never gets any easier. But I find that looking back on fond and happy memories can help ease the pain.
This memorial page is in memory of those we have lost from our flock that you have grown to know and love just as much as we have.
My beloved Winnie.
This memorial picture is from my last days with her.
Winnie became ill in the summer of 2019 and despite all my efforts and care, she could not be saved. I blamed myself for not catching her illness sooner and not doing more for her, but now I find peace in the fact that she is no longer in pain.
Winnie was my smallest and most gorgeous Ancona duck. But she was not one for cuddles or pets because she was to be looked at, not touched! But she was famous for doing a little dance for me when she was excited about foraging time. She was also the most independent duck of my flock and was usually off doing her own thing away from the group, which regularly prompted the question, “Where’s Winnie?”
Winnie is greatly missed but a little piece of her lives on in her daughter Mary!
“No longer by my side but forever in my heart.”
